The Rion Foundation was started in 2018 to celebrate our deep love and memory of our first-born child, Rion. Our anticipation of a happy moment was shattered when the baby came out premature at 36 weeks. Sadly, we lost him 10 days after birth. This experience triggered my quest to learn more about premature births and pregnant mothers. Studies show that 15 million preterm babies are born each year (1). The estimated cost is $51,600 per each infant born preterm in the United States which does not include cost beyond early childhood (2). The estimated lifetime special education costs are $81,655–$125,811 for cases of Cerebral Palsy, Hearing Loss, Intellectual Disability, and Vision Impairment associated with premature births (3).
I ask that you kindly consider donating to the Rion Foundation to help in its efforts assist those affected by premature birth. Your contribution is crucial to help the Rion Foundation educate parents on ensuring healthy pregnancies and to support families that are recovering from premature childbirth. Your generosity allows the Rion Foundation to advocate for and fund the research necessary to prevent complications from childbirth, birth defects, and infant mortality. With your help, the Rion Foundation can continue to fulfill its mission to honor the life of our son, Rion, and help families like our own.
